Parent helpers are an integral part of our program. Families are regularly scheduled to volunteer in our classrooms, approximately once a month. It doesn't have to be Mom or Dad - grandparents, aunts, uncles, nannies, etc. are welcome (and really - it's a lot of fun!).
NHPS is an outreach of St. John UMC. We serve families of the church as well as those throughout the community. We celebrate Christian holidays; however, our doors are always open to families of all beliefs.
The New Horizons Parent Advisory Board serves as a liaison between NHPS, St. John United Methodist Church and preschool communities. The board assists with fund-raising activities and meets about four times each year. Let us know if you are interested in being a member of the board.
Our teachers incorporate American Sign Language in our classes.
We use HWT pre-K curriculum to introduce the alphabet to our students.
NHPS director Judith Goodrum will be found greeting families, working in the office, popping into classrooms and helping preschoolers make good choices. Longtime staff member Paula Carpenter can be found working in the office or helping in a classroom.
